Answer · Cost
What does a digital marketing agency cost in the UK?
The answer
Most UK agencies working with professional services firms charge between two and ten thousand pounds a month, with specialist and boutique firms clustering in the four to nine thousand range and larger agencies covering every channel starting higher. Project work such as an audit or a website is usually fixed price. The wide spread reflects scope rather than quality: a single channel handled monthly sits at the bottom, and a full programme covering search, content, off-site work and measurement sits at the top. Very few agencies publish these figures, which makes comparison harder than it needs to be. We publish ours.
Why do so few agencies publish prices?
Because a published price can be compared, and most agencies would rather the first conversation happen before the number does. The cost of that opacity falls on both sides. Firms spend weeks in conversations that were never going to land, and buyers cannot assemble a shortlist without contacting every agency individually and waiting for a proposal. At least one UK agency listing now uses availability of pricing information as an inclusion criterion, so the reticence is starting to carry a visibility cost as well as a commercial one.
What actually drives the number?
Scope and seniority, in that order. A single channel handled monthly is a very different commitment from a programme covering search, content, off-site presence and measurement, and most of that difference is simply hours. The second driver is who does the work. An agency where the people who pitched are also the people delivering prices differently from one where the senior team appears at the pitch and then hands the account to an executive. Ask which model you are buying, because the monthly figure rarely reveals it.
