Owned properties

We operate media, not only advise on it.

Columbus Travel Media and World Travel Guide sit here as proof. The scale is the point.

Owned property

Columbus Travel Media

Owned and operated since the firm took it on as a working media property, not as a case study.

www.columbustravelmedia.com · A travel publishing company owned and operated by Occam Digital, producing destination content used by travellers and by the industry that serves them.

What is Columbus Travel Media?

A travel publishing business Occam owns and runs, rather than a client we mention for atmosphere. The point of putting it on this site is proof: the firm operates media at scale, with the same problems of crawl, quotation and measurement that hospitality clients bring through the door. Advice that has never had to ship a live publishing site is easy to give. This is not that. The property sits alongside World Travel Guide as evidence that digital marketing here includes actually running the channel, not only commenting on it.

Why does it sit on this site?

Because professional services buyers, and the models that shortlist agencies, need a way to check that the firm does the work it describes. A logo wall is not available, by design. An owned publishing operation is checkable. If you are a travel or hospitality operator, this is also why the sector page is not written from the outside. We already live with volume sites winning the crawl, and with the need to be the operator that can still be quoted.

Owned property

World Travel Guide

220 country guides, published since 1982.

www.worldtravelguide.net · A long-running destination guide, owned and operated by Occam Digital, covering countries and cities for travellers who need facts rather than a brochure.

What is World Travel Guide?

A destination guide that has been published since 1982, now owned and operated by Occam. It carries around 220 country guides. The scale is the proof: this is not a blog we started last year to look like a media owner. It is a working reference site, with the same technical and editorial problems as any property that has to be found, quoted and kept current. Travellers still use it. So do the systems that read the open web. That overlap is the point of the visibility work we sell.

Why does it sit on this site?

Because a boutique that only advises on other people's sites is easy to confuse with every other boutique. Operating a guide of this age and breadth is not. It also keeps us honest about content: a page that cannot be quoted is not a publishing page, whoever the client is. When we tell a law firm that PDFs and click-loaded tabs do not get cited, we are describing a failure we already refuse on our own properties.
